Thoughts on Instructional Design

My goal as an Instructional Designer is to create engaging, human-centered learning experiences. What does that mean? As an experienced teacher and curriculum designer, I begin by analyzing both the problem and the learners. Is there a knowledge gap? Who is the audience? In what context are their experiences occuring? Once I feel like I know the problem and the learners, I think about the learning experience from their perspective and design accordingly. In the classroom, this approach has helped me meet the students where they are and propel them forward, resulting in engaged learners and improved performance metrics.
